Located in delightful Brookside, in Mendham Township, Harmony Brookside Gifts & Gallery opened in 2018. The area boasts several restaurants, coffee shops, local businesses and thriving schools and is a bustling New Jersey town.
Co-owners Ella Slayne and Sally Harris set out to create an interesting new gift shop and small art gallery, showcasing unusual finds in an appealing space.
Over the years the shop has become a vibrant hub in the community as well as drawing customers from further afield.

The success of the gift shop depends on selecting the right products, which is seriously fun! Seriously because a great deal of time, consideration and planning goes into choosing each item. But such fun, discovering new products and anticipating customers' reactions.
Working with a variety of vendors, platforms and local sellers results in a wide range of products, hitting various price points. Established relationships is key for smooth transactions and obtaining favorable deals.
Marketing & Advertising
Developed over years, Harmony Brookside's marketing email list is well over 1,000 customers and our twice-weekly emails see an excellent average open rate of 45%, enticing customers into the store. In addition to regular marketing and advertising, there are a myriad of creative areas in running this business, from design to display, event creation, seeking artist collaborations .... really, whatever gets your creative juices going!
Operations & Systems
Harmony Brookside runs Square for POS (Point of Sale) for all customer transactions and also for marketing, payroll and inventory management, as well as for the online store. This ensures a seamless sharing of stock data and allows full reporting across all areas.

In 2019 Harmony Brookside opened its online store which proved invaluable during the pandemic and is an exciting area of growth for the business.

Ella and Sally, the current owners, created Harmony Brookside in 2018 with a plan to sell the business in 2025. Why, you ask?!
